David Fulford Biography
Born in Newcastle, David studied art at Sunderland College of Art and at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne before embarking on a teaching career that lasted from 1965 to 2000. He taught in colleges in Tyneside, in Jamaica and in Scarborough. In 1995 he obtained an M.A. in Fine Art from the University of Humberside. He is now a full time painter and works from his home in Cumbria.
David works mostly in oils, often making very large paintings. He also produces etchings and drawings.
February to April, 2016 Living Landscape – an Arts Council-funded group show at Dean Clough Gallery, Halifax (during 2016 and 2017 this will travel to Studio Eleven, Hull; Bede Gallery, Jarrow; Gracefield Arts Centre, Dumfries; Ropewalk Gallery, Barton on Humber)
2013 David Fulford – solo show at the John Muir Trust Wild Space Gallery, Pitlochry.
2006 Edge – solo show at the Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal
2005 Eric’s Sheds – with Liz Johnson at Neo Gallery, Cockermouth
2003 Here and Now – group show, with Len Tabner, William Tillyer and other North Yorkshire artists, at the Pannett Art Gallery, Whitby
